Why we exist
The middle got stranded.
There's a generation of creators too serious for the feed and not connected enough for the deal — gobbled by YouTube's lottery, not “backed” enough for Netflix.
Netflix's floor needs agents, festivals, and heat. YouTube's algorithm can't tell a finished film from a clip that ships tomorrow, and it prefers the clip.
So good work gets buried, good people burn out, and everyone with a hard drive full of almost-done projects asks the same question: what's the point, if there's no place for finished work that isn't prestige-backed?
Recast is that place.
What we believe

Everything on Recast is made to stand on its own. A film. A short season, complete before episode one. A mid-length essay. Local work. Imperfect work that's still done.
We gate on completion and taste — not budget, not festivals, not follower counts. One camera and a hard drive is enough. A post house is optional.
If it only makes sense inside a feed, it can't survive here. That's not snobbery. It's how the economics are built: nothing here earns a cent by merely holding your attention.
The door says no.
Recast is curated by people, not machines. Creators apply with finished work and are admitted on craft and intent — never follower counts, never who funded it. Fans join by invite, through the creators and members who love this place.
Being here means something, because someone said no to everyone else.
The money is honest.
Creators keep 85% of everything. Purchases, patronage, backing, tips. In dollars, not tokens, with math anyone can check.
Your fans are yours: names, emails, history, exportable any day, no questions asked.
And when you bring someone to Recast, you earn a share of what they spend here, on anyone, for life.
Endings are the point.
Every premiere has a curtain time. Every season has a finale. Every film ends, goes on your shelf, and stays yours for good.

Who's behind this
Built by a filmmaker who needed it.
Recast was founded by Bear Wade, a 4x Telly Award winning documentary filmmaker and 23-year studio founder who spent two decades making work above the feed's pay grade, and asking where it was supposed to live.
The answer wasn't out there. So we built it.
The fine print, in plain English
No ads, ever. And we mean structurally.
We sell work, never attention. There is no feed to place ads in, no algorithm to game, no engagement to farm. Brands can support the culture here, a sponsored award, a backed season, named in the credits like any patron. Nobody may interrupt the show.
